LIVERPOOL

Hey, so I went to liverpool with my college today, and went to the art galleys, and I've had a good day. We went firstly to the Walker Gallery and then the Tate Liverpool.

At the Walker Gallery there was the John Moores Painting Prize 2012, along with John Moore China, and the winners from many of the previous years. I do appreciate the talent they have but none of it was really my style, nothing really stood out for me.

The Tate however was much more up my street. The exhibitions were Matt Saunders: Century RollsTracing the Century: Drawing as a Catalyst for ChangeDLA Piper Series: This is Sculpture

I though the prints were wonderful in this exhibition, although I wasn't a big fan of the video installation that was there; it just felt very amateur in my opinion.

Historical Site 1927 - Paul Klee 1879-1940
Watercolour and ink on paper on board

Up and Out c.1951-2 - Richard Hamilton 1922-2011
Watercolour on paper

This was an amazing piece, I must of sat in there over half an hour. The room was so dark so I couldn't take a decent photo. It was a video installation, in a dark room with a traditional projector with a continuous loop of film playing. The piece was a static back ground and a white circle slowly grew until it was completed where it the vanished and started again. Its hard to describe but well worth watching. I didn't get the name or artist of it but my friend did so I'll be sure to post about it in future.

Unknown artists and pieces: Chosen for the unfinished drawn quality.

Campbell's Soup I: Black Bean Soup - Andy Warhol 1968
Amazing to see in the flesh!

Abstract in White, Black, Indian and Lilac 1957 - Victor Pasmore 1908-1998
Painted Wood
This may have been by favorite piece of the day. So simple yet so wonderful. Creating depth though extending pieces of wood, with simple clean lines, no mess, no fuss, something that flows and lets you relax.

0 through 9 1961 - Jasper Johns 1930-
Oil on Canvas
This was defiantly amazing to see in person. I was so start struck I do love his work and to see one I felt honed. Amazing piece from one of my favorite series.

Kinda forgot how much I liked gallery's, I haven't been to any in awhile so I will start going again, most definitively.

Anyway I didn't get back till late but I wanted to get this up, sorry about the gap to, na night.
